He has a good eye for the expensive and rare items and seeing the bracelet he thought that its one of the precious item he confirmed it with one of his friend and after knowing that its correct he head towards to the police station.
It wasn't only the act to bring out the innocent mermaid but to posses the precious Jade bracelet she was wearing. Things become more difficult as he couldn't convenience the officer to let go of her. Then no way he had to use the Harry Potter trick using his lighter. He made the officer do as was told.
